I said YES!

This past Saturday, my boyfriend Al, his son, Addison, our dog, Roxy and I were getting our family photos taken in Davidson by Seth Snider (http://sethsniderphotography.blogspot.com/). He is an awesome young phtographer and has such a great vibe. If anybody in the greater Charlotte area needs photos taken, I highly recommend Seth! Anyway, back to my story!

We are walking about Davidson having these great pictures taken. First we're in casual clothes and have several pictures taken. Then we change into our dressier clothes for some more formal-ish photos (I hesitate to say formal as we are outside in Davidson on a gorgeous Saturday evening). Seth takes us to this great "wishing well" on the Davidson campus. He tells me to stand at the top and not turn around til he counts to 3. That way my hair will be blowing in the wind. Seems perfectly logical to me... I'll look like a model. Well, he counts to three.

One, two, three! I turn around and there is Al down on one knee with a bouquet of flowers. At this point I am smiling ear to ear, but still think this is just a photo opportunity. Then, Al pulls out my Great-Grandmother's diamond ring. With tears in his eyes and barely able to speak, Al asks me to marry him. I could not have asked for a more romantic proposal. Everything was perfect. The setting, the sunset, having Al and Addison with me. Even having Seth there to capture the moment on film. It was truly a breathtaking moment. Of course, I said yes!

I, Sarah-Star, an engaged woman, can't wait to see how our photos turn out! I was so surprised. I had no idea Al even had the ring! He's had it since June when my parents came to visit us. I'm so happy my mom didn't spoil the secret, even though I am sure she was dying to tell me Al already had the ring. Especially since I had just last week asked her to bring it at Thanksgiving! I'm also proud of Addison for helping Al plan (and keeping the ring and flowers hidden in a bad while we had the pictures taken... I thought he was just carrying extra clothes to have another wardrobe change). I'm so thankful to Seth for helping this all come to fruition. He did a great job and I really was surprised. But I am most thankful to my fiance, Al (I have a fiance!).

Al did such a wonderful job planning this. His proposal, though it may seem simple to some, was more than I ever could have asked or hoped for. I've known for a long time that Al loves me, but now it's as if there is some magical seal on our love and relationship. Maybe I'm just being a silly romantic, and I know that nothing is going to change in our relationship simply because we are engaged. But I guess this sort of gives me peace of mind. It's the next step in our journey together. And I am enjoying every moment of this journey. Al truly is my best friend and my lover and everything I could ever want in a life partner. And I thank God for letting our paths cross.

I"M GETTING MARRIED! And to the man I love!!!
